2007 season Swinley Cycling Permits now available

by Paul Howard, 08 Mar 07.

All cyclists over 16 using Swinley Forest must hold an annual permit or a day permit to legally cycle there. Purchase yours now either online, by post, or from your local bike shop.

There are four main reasons why you need a cycle permit:

  1. Swinley Forest is private land and is not owned by The Queen, Local Authority or Forestry Commission.
  2. Swinley Forest is part of a Special Protection Area under a European Directive for 4 species of ground nesting birds.
  3. To provide Public Liability insurance for cycling.
  4. To provide funds towards Ranger cover and maintenance of the cycle trails. The Crown Estate has a legal obligation to Natural England to demonstrate proper management of all forest & leisure activity.
