POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER... TrailTrax 'Special' in Swinley Forest 30th June

by Jon Lucas, 29 Jun 07.

EVENT UPDATE 29th June: Due to the poor weather forecast for the weekend we have taken the regretful decision to postpone this event until later in the year, sorry. Pre-entered riders may request a full refund by contacting info@gorrick.com or we can transfer your entry to an event later in the year.

If you like riding in Swinley Forest or enjoy cycle orienteering events then here is something for you. Gorrick are putting on a TrailTrax navigator event during the afternoon of Saturday 30 June 2007. The event is based just off Green Lane near Rapley Farm on the road used by cars coming into the forest for Gorrick events and will be clearly signed for cars from the Bagshot to Bracknell side of the A322. If you want you can cycle in as well, as it will be signed 'BASE' from the bottom of Surrey Hill and from the Old Bracknell Road.

The event is cycle orienteering for pairs or solo riders . You have to navigate from a map provided, to checkpoints spread around the forest, clip your checkcard, and then navigate to your next chosen checkpoint. Each checkpoint is worth a different amount of points and you can visit as many or as few as you want within the time limit of 2 hours. You can do this in any order as you choose your route and the aim is to get as many points as you can without incurring any time penalties for being late back. There are plenty of 2 hour categories to choose from . Or you can choose to take part in the Sprint event, where you try to get to all 20 checkpoints in the quickest time, with an overall time limit of 3 hours. The event is open to all and the entry cost is between £10 and £12.

Registration opens at 1.30pm and Start times are from 2.00-2.30pm for Sprint riders or 2.00-3.30pm for Standard category riders. There will be a prize giving at around 5.45pm with prizes from Mountain Trax and a pay barbeque from around 4pm.

Entries are limited to the first 150, so don't hang around. You can enter ONLINE using a Debit or Credit card or a PayPal account if you have one. There will also be ENTRIES ON THE DAY subject to numbers. Full details of the event on the entry form.
