Merida Brass Monkeys R1 Minley Manor - Results and Photos
by Paul Howard, 23 Nov 14. Results [ 1» ] Photos [ 1» ]
Rather than dwell on the weather of the wettest Brass Monkey there's ever been, just for a moment think back to those amazing frosty races we've had in past winters. When the trails are frozen solid and the low winter sun is just enough to keep the temperature above zero. Everyone finishes with barely a spec of dust on them, just a satisfying grin of a great winters ride. I shall dream this is the way Rounds 2 and 3 will be!
Back on planet Minley there was plenty of satisfaction for many riders having finished, be it completing just one lap or five. Your determination and stamina will be rewarded in the series points for the top 40 in each category. The points will be published later in the week. Head over to our Brass Monkeys Facebook for podium photos and post race chit chat. I'm sure you've all got a story to tell.
Round 2 is on the 14th December and is held at Tunnel Hill. It's one of our favourite venues as the trails are sure to keep you entertained. Don't forget ENTRY CLOSES on the 9th December. See you there.
Autumn Classic 2: Crowthorne Wood - Results & Photos
by Paul Howard, 09 Nov 14. Results [ 1» ] Photos [ 1» ]
A cracking day out in the woods with a course that just got better and better as 100's of riders tested their bike skills and Autumn fitness. The Gorrick trail team excelled themselves once again providing a lap that not only introduced new trails but was nowhere near as wet as many had predicted, the few puddles left even dispersed. The highlight for me was watching the children's races with some as young as 9 or 10 who rode everything. Some future stars in the making no doubt.
There is a short break now till your next racing fix on the 23rd November for Round 1 of the Merida Brass Monkeys at Minley Manor. Make sure you pre-enter in advance as there is NO entry on the day. See you there.

Well done everyone!! Thank you for making the 7th edition of 12:12 such a superb event. Thank you too to our very supportive and generous sponsors. Now the dust has quite literally settled having been dampened down by Monday's rain we hope you're relaxing at home viewing the Results which can be accessed via the link above. Note that these are subject to final checking.
The 8 mile race course was different yet again to previous years showing the versatility Minley Manor can offer. I'm sure riders will be talking about some notable sections for months to come; Banksey is always fun - split into two this time, Back to Front - the long descent from the top Sunset Wood field is a blast, and as for Sponge Bob Climb? What a killer; "like riding on a mattress", "little devils pulling at my tyres", "my hardtail suddenly gained rear suspension", just some of the comments I heard.
Racing was hard fought in all the categories as both teams and solos showed some outstanding lap times and consistency as you'll see from the results. The vibe on the course was excellent with lot's of banter, friendly overtaking and the sounds of the Bridge to Nowhere disco to lighten the mood. From all at Gorrick, the Army CU and the event sponsors we thank you and look forward to welcoming you back to TORQ 8 in 2015.
