What seemed like a badly timed rain shower at 8.30am on Sunday morning fortunately didn't materialise into anything more menacing as 70 riders got under way in the 7 lap race. The combination of a hot sun beating down and riders pushing themselves at normal race pace in the early stages soon took its toll as many simply "blew up" or suffered cramp.

At the top of the leaderboard Richard Wood (Extreme Endurance) and Rob English (www.BIKEREVUK.com) toyed with the lead for 3 laps before Richard broke free to take the win in 7 hours and 51 minutes, just 9 minutes in front of Rob. Just two others completed 7 laps - Simon Turner (Ellsworth/Freeborn Bikes/Torq Bar) and George Budd (Titus Cycles) in 9 hours. As Editors privilege I think I'll finally mention myself in a report :-), Paul Howard (Mountain Trax/BOB/Gorrick), for finishing 5th with 6 laps. We'll have a full race review of all the categories published later this week when Luke Webber is capable of typing!

The course planners wish to apologise for the extra 3 miles. Although the route was broadly similar to last years event the additional twiddly bits and new sections of trail all mounted up to rather more than was expected. Distance aside thank you for your positive comments about the course. So why not spread the word that Gorrick puts on courses to rival and often exceed many of the other national events.

Many thanks to Gill for their support and all the other trade stands and helpers that make our events run smoothly. And finally don't forget the 5th and last round of the Exodus Spring Series on the 22nd May at Porridge Pot Hill, Deepcut, when the series winners will be fighting it out for some fantastic prizes.
