Hawkley TrailTrax results

by Paul Howard, 17 Apr 05. Results [  ]

The tough climbs around Hawkley - not to mention the local town of Steep - was the venue for some tough competition today. Good trail conditions helped many riders acheive scores to within a couple of hundred of the maximum, consequently podium placings were in some cases split by time. As happened to Trevor Hillman and Warren Peters who pipped Steve Davidson and Mike Davies by six minutes after both scoring a total of 1970 points in the Pairs.

Rob Carter timed his return to perfection in the Solos scoring the highest final total of the day of 1990. Dan Horton would have challenged Rob for top spot but overestimated the time to return coming in 3 minutes late, losing 30 valuable points, dropping him to third behind Chris Porter. In the Veteran Solo event Mike Richman continued his winning form from Alton to score 1970, a clear margin ahead of new face Julian Hemsted, 1900.

TrailTrax regulars Gerry Mepham and Andy Anderson took a convincing win the Veteran Pairs with 1620, ahead of Carl Churchill and Garry Eidmann, 1280. The Mixed Pairing teamwork of Alison Wilson and Carl Silver took first with 1640, well ahead of Barry Voysey and Jane Hall, 1530.

A pair of riding glasses found near checkpoint 12 was handed in at the finish. Please get in touch if you think they're yours.

Thank you to Mountain Trax for supporting us and providing all the product prizes. We'll see you again in just a few weeks at Cheriton near Winchester on the 15 May. Overnight camping is available on the Saturday night at the Flower Pots. We'll be there with a handful of Berks On Bikes members enjoying club activities during Saturday. Please contact the pub if you wish to stay.
