Motion Fitness Autumn Race 2 report

The onset of a damp but relatively mild day didn't dampen the turnout at the final daytime race of the Autumn at Crowthorne Wood. In fact just under 400 riders took to the fast but flowing course which held up very well despite the temperamental November weather. For a change we planned a slightly shorter course to keep the racing close, and with no big climbs but plenty of tight singletrack there were some fantastic battles going on with positions changing regularly as "freight trains" of riders came through.
The finale of the afternoon was a one lap handicap sprint race for Berks On Bikes club members. Over 20 riders were set off in groups at one and a half minute intervals based on previous race results and "perceived" ability, the aim being that everyone should finish near enough together. And so with 15 riders crossing the line within under one and a half minutes of each other it was a quite tough challenge for the overtaking riders to breakthrough. If you're club is interested in running a similar race annually for ten or more riders please get in touch.
Our best wishes go to Pete Radband who crashed near the finish of the Sprint Race and aggravated an old shoulder injury. He was unable to move off the narrow track hence the re-routed section for the Sport and Experts. Fortunately such incidents are rare so please adhere to the instructions given by race marshal's when told to slow down or take an alternative route.

Two new local venues never before raced on are in the offing, as we finalise land use agreements. You will hear by email when Entry Forms are available.
