Gorrick 100 course details
by Jon Lucas, 06 Jun 03.
We were out riding the course today to check the distance - it's a little over 10 miles. The light rain has washed away the dust and loose bits so it's packed down nicely into a smooth and flowing ride. If you're familiar with the trail names here's a summary of near enough what's planned:
- The start line is at Lake Ride as per last year.
- Turn off through some singletrack to return around toward Surrey Hill.
- Ride the 2nd half of the Roman Run to the normal race start area.
- Up to the bottom of the Long Run.
- Over the Pink Bridges toward Vicarage Lane.
- Climb up Surrey Hill.
- Down the Wall and right into the Long Run.
- Climb back up to the reservoir.
- Follow the perimeter track past the Military Land to Lower Star Post.
- Fast hard firebash to Crowthorne Wood.
- Approx 1 3/4 miles of singletrack through Seagull Wood and What's The Point to Lower Star Post again.
- A long pootle down Windsor Ride to the top of Three Sisters Hill and down Twisted Sister.
- Climb to the start of the Full Nine Yards and ride nearly the full length.
- Into the Tank Run, Tank Traps and finally to the finish line.
Phew, I'm tired just writing it!
Cut-off time - There will be a cut-off time when riders will be stopped from starting another lap at 5pm, but we hope you will all have finished by then anyway.
Fundraising - As mentioned on the entry form we are raising money for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust. All vehicles entering will be charged just two pounds, but you can of course donate more.
Have fun out there and remember keep smiling!
