Brass Monkey Round 2 on 5 January - entry closing soon
by Jane Lucas, 30 Dec 19.
This year's Brass Monkeys' XC Winter Endurance Series is already underway and the course at Hungry Hill got some great feedback, for which we thank you. If you missed it no worries, as well as being part of a Series, each event also stands alone with its own trophies awarded on the podium and there's still 2 to go, both in January. The events have categories for riders 14+ including Single Speed and Fat Bike and you just ride as many laps as you can in your chosen time category on a 5-6 mile course carefully prepared by our experienced team.
ROUND 2 - The New Year Hangover is Sunday 5 January at Porridge Pot, Deepcut, Surrey, GU16 6TU. We returned to this popular venue last August for TORQ Lite and it's just as good as ever. Expect a few short sharp climbs and some longer gentler ones, with fast, fun single track descents. There'll also be some interesting technical areas especially close to the canal and several fire roads for you to cruise and refuel as necessary.
ROUND 3 - The Winter Warmer is Sunday 26 January at Minley, Hants, GU17 9LP. Always a favourite, Minley has numerous areas of woodland, heathland and forest single tracks linked by excellent swooping fire roads and tracks. There's some interesting climbs with plenty of recovery time and even some tarmac refuelling bits. Many sections are classics now, such as Banksy, Sponge Bob, Back to Front, Double Dip, Sunset Wood and not forgetting the Bridge to Nowhere.
The Series is headline sponsored by Four4th Lights , known for their superb high performance, extreme sports lights. Expect full event facilities and podium trophy presentations taking place soon after the end of each category finish, with Series trophies and prizes at the last round.
ENTRY IS BY PRE-ENTRY ONLY HERE and is limited to 300 riders. There's an 'Enter rounds 2 & 3' option to make things easier if you want to ride at both and secure your place.
