Racing News
Gill 100 this Sunday
by Luke Webber, 21 Apr 04.
Please make a note of the breaking news further down this page, particularly with regard to Registration.
Just a reminder that the event run by Gorrick MBC and sponsored by Gill is taking place on Sunday 25th April. Endurance junkies take one step forward because Sunday 25th April sees the Gill 100 take place at Swinley Forest.
Riders will have the chance to complete up to seven laps of the notorious ten mile course as it winds its way through Swinley, Surrey Hill and Crowthorne Woods, with singletrack and those fabled killer climbs thrown in for good measure.
Hosts, Gorrick MBC say places are filling up fast due to the volume of riders and its reputation for being the hardest enduro in the south. As a result registration now opens at 7.30am, however Gorrick strongly recommend pre-entering to help all races get off on time.
For the less adventurous (or more sensible) among us there will be 1, 2, 3 and 5 lap options going off throughout the day that will still secure a substantial personal challenge.
Gill will be showing off the latest in clothing technology from base layers to breathable waterproof jackets which hopefully won't be required.
Unfortunately you won't be able to use the "mechanical" excuse for not finishing as First Gear Cycles will be on hand to provide assistance for your broken bike. But if it's you that's broken Attuned Body will help get you back into shape with free massages. All they ask is that you make a donation to the bucket, that will go directly to the MacMillan Cancer Trust.
All cars coming into the venue will be charged £2 for parking which will go directly to the local Chiltern Air Ambulance.
Breaking news
We've been up in the forest today (Thursday) working on the final route for the Enduro course. Even after all the rain of the last few days the trails are in good nick as the water is starting to drain away quickly, so just the odd puddle here and there. The forecast looks promising for the next three days so fingers crossed for a dry one.
Charity
All vehicles will be charged £2 to enter the land with all proceeds to your Chiltern Air Ambulance.
