The Flowerpots Inn at Cheriton near the South Downs in Hampshire played host to our second TrailTrax Navigator of 2009. For what must be approaching some kind of a record for the sixth year on the trot at this venue riders enjoyed a sublime summers day. The staff at the pub are welcoming and wonderful hosts who laid on a great bbq along with their locally brewed beer, a perfect supplement to a good day out on the trails.
The results are published which can be accessed via the link above. There were a few clearances and many high scores achieved. It was good to hear tales of riders bettering their scores from previous events proving that each time you learn something new and if put into practice can make a difference. Remember good route planning and map reading skills on the go can be more important than outright speed.
Thank you as always to Mountain Trax for sponsoring the event and providing a high value range of prizes, so make sure to visit them at Barkham near Wokingham for your next cycling purchases. Also on behalf of the Gorrick team and the other competitors we wish a speedy recovery to Waiman Yau who lost control of his bike on an offroad descent and was treated by Ambulance crew. Ever the competitor he had someone return his checkcard to us so he still got his points calculated.
The next TrailTrax is on the 11th October at Tilford in Surrey south of Farnham. This encompasses the Surrey Hills from the North Downs to the Devils Punchbowl. We highly recommend you pre-enter which not only saves you money on the day, but speeds up your collection of the map and checkcard at registration, and most importantly assures Gorrick that we'll have enough people attending to make the event viable. Thank you.
Looking ahead to our next events you may be interested to try something a little different such as our 12 hour cross country enduro race called 12:12 TORQ in your Sleep. This starts at midday on Sunday 30th August finishing at midnight, so you get the Bank Holiday Monday to relax or travel home afterwards. Get yourself a team together or ride in a pair or solo. Full details can be found elsewhere on this website and this latest event preview.
Do you want to take your riding skills to the next level? Or hone your cycling fitness and be more efficient on the trail? We may just have the answer in the form of MTB Skills Training. The courses really are for any standard of rider covering everything from basic technique to mastering bombholes and trail flow. Learn more on the website.
