Cheriton TrailTrax results

A fine sunny day and the promise of excellent beer brewed onsite brought a bumper turnout to The Flowerpots Inn at Cheriton. Riders enjoyed fast, dry and quiet trails including sections of the South Downs Way.

A good mix of scores in the 90 minute events saw the Family of John & Patrick Tunney achieve a creditable 540. The Pairing of Robert Pearce and R Berryman scored 620 but the highest of the 90's was Paul Twidell doing very well to finish with 950.

Onto the three hour event and Veteran Pairs... Mike Richman - a regular winner in the Solo category - teamed up with Neil Grant to take first with 1990, just 20 points short of the maximum. They had a large gap on the next three places with only 10 points separating second to fourth. Though it would have been different had two of the pairs not overshot their three hour limit.

Another close battle in the Mixed Pairs saw Carl Silver and Alison Wilson score 1890 just 20 points ahead of regulars Dave & Heather Monkcom.

Which leaves the neither old nor mixed gender teams of standard Pairs. Warren Peters and Trevor Hillman keep number one spot with 1930. Unfortunately for Mike Davies and Matt Kemp it looks like they overstretched themselves by nine minutes reducing their impressive 1970 to just 1880 points. Oh the penalties of a late return!

In the Solo Men Gary Shipp managed the only clearance of the day but not without a 60 point penalty. Perhaps Adam Eyre-Walker could have found another checkpoint with his spare eight minutes to close the gap on Gary.

Our Veteran Solo Men category swelled to 26 entrants. Graham Hildyard got back to his winning ways with 1950 just 20 in front of Chris Porter.

The introduction of the 3 hour Solo category for Ladies was a success for Iwona Szymd taking the win with 1740 points - which would have seen her highly placed in the Mens competition too. Catherine Pascoe timed her return to the minute scoring 1500 points for second.

We'd like to extend our thanks to The Flowerpots Inn, what fabulous hosts and they're cooking ain't half bad either! Also to Mountain Trax for providing all the prizes.

Our next TrailTrax is run in association with the Test Valley Borough Council on the 12 June in Andover. We are expecting a large turnout so to ensure your entry it is advisable to pre-enter using this handy form, it also lists their Hot and Cold Mountain Bike Challenges which Gorrick are organising.

If you want to send us feedback on today's event please e-mail info@gorrick.com. See you all again in June when we hope the weather will be just as hot.

P.s. a pair of riding glasses was found not far from the Flowerpots. Please contact us if you think they maybe yours.
