Exodus Spring Series finale

by Luke Webber, 18 May 05.

Gorrick?s Exodus Spring Series comes to a close this Sunday with everything to play for in the final round at Porridge Pot Hill, Deepcut.

This course will be unique with trackside parking forming a centre arena for spectators which will enhance the already superb racing atmosphere only a Gorrick can bring. The start is promised to be a real rollercoaster affair, leading out to a couple of killer climbs and on to brand new singletrack through valleys. The recent dry spell should leave the course in perfect condition and please everyone; from title contender to weekend warrior.

For the main event John Veness and Gill 100 winner Richard Wood will be battling it out in the Elite men?s race. With just four points between them and ?300 of holiday vouchers from series sponsor Exodus and another ?80 from Cycle Kingdom in the pot there?s plenty at stake.

There?s also a cracking battle going on at the head of the Veteran field. Seven points separate six riders who are in with a chance of taking the title of Spring Series champ. For the time being Dave Nelson heads the standings, but these races have been so close and unpredictable all series no one can guess who will take away ?100 worth of kit from Mountain High.

There?s even close racing in the Juvenile and Youth categories proving that there is plenty of new blood pumping through the veins of mountain biking in the south.

If you?re in contention for a top three place in any of the categories remember that you must score points in three rounds to qualify for the fantastic prizes courtesy of the many local bike shops and Exodus Adventure Holidays who sponsor the series. With all of these rewards around you?d think there?s no room left for anything else - but fear not! www.bumpybikes.com are still offering ?50 cash for the fastest lap of the day in one lucky race category.

There is also a mass upgrade planned by some of the faster (that?s top ten) Sport racers, including Spring Series winner George Budd. He is looking to make the Expert/Elite category a true representation of both Expert and Elite racers and giving the chance for the faster Open and Fun riders to move up and test themselves over four laps in the Sport category.

As usual entry on the day is available and all series standings, entry forms and directions to the venue are on the website.
